September 3rd - Market Day #14

Have you ever heard of Ice Cream Bread?
Try this with Prigel's Ice Cream!

ICE CREAM BREAD (Two ingredients!)
Perfect for making with the kids and infinite varieties

Makes One 8 x 4 loaf

Ingredients:
2 Cups Ice Cream, any flavor, softened
1 1/2 cups Self-Rising Flour

Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350 Fahrenheit. Spray and flour a 8 x 4 loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl mix the ice cream and flour together until just combined.
3. Scoop into the loaf and smooth out.
4. Bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick stuck in the loaf comes out with a few crumbs stuck to it.
5. Remove from the pan and allow to cool.

For best results..use full fat ice-cream!

You MUST have a rising agent in the flour!
Self-rising flour is an easy solution (and commonly available).
However, if you don’t have self-rising flour accessible, you can make it very simply:
For every cup of flour add 1 1/2 tsp baking powder and 1/2 tsp salt (sift together).

(Recipe found on Facebook: At Home With Terri)

If you can't find Prigel's at the Tuesday Market,
their ice cream is in the freezer at
The Green Onion,
5500 Harford Road.

Apples are starting to appear at Fetter's Fruit Farm!

Here is an easy recipe using Zahradka's potatoes!

Cut a baking potato almost all the way through in small slices.
Drizzle olive oil, a little butter, sea salt and pepper over the potato.
Bake at 425 degrees for 40 minutes.

Chef Mac will be on vacation...
tomorrow only!
For you die-hard fans, this is your
chance to try something new!
Be daring...
Plenty of great food will still
be ready & waiting at the
Tuesday Market in Lauraville.

An Interesting Night at the Tuesday Market in Lauraville

PIE IT FORWARD
Meet Sarah Fertig and Chris Kovac.

Sarah & Chris are traveling around the country on a mission
to combat the spirit of cynicism and meanness
that seems to be so prevalent in society today.

"The maniFEASTo

I have a pie. I just baked it and I’m really proud of it. It looks delicious. But even though I bought the ingredients and baked it myself, I don’t really consider it “my” pie."

How are they spreading good will?
With apple pie!
Find their recipe here:

What is better with apple pie
than ice cream from
Prigel's Family Creamery?
Julie accepts a slice of apple pie from Sarah.
How did they find the Tuesday Market in Lauraville?
Through word-of-mouth.  They were given a tip to look for Arthur Morgan
from Gather Baltimore.  Arthur introduced Sarah & Chris to Winston Blick
from Clementine, and also to Spilly from Baltimore Hoop Love.
They spent Monday baking 7 pies at Clementine, then gave the pies
away by the slice at the market on Tuesday night.

And, how are they traveling around the country?
In a Tumbleweed Tiny House, of course!

Best Wishes, Sarah & Chris, as you continue your mission to
make our world a kinder place!
Thanks for taking the time to share your pie at the
Tuesday Market in Lauraville!

Morgan State University
Gregory Adamo, PhD, a resident in our community, is an Associate
Professor at Morgan State University.
Last night, he introduced his class of graduate students to the
Tuesday Market in Lauraville.

The class will be collecting audio files from the market.  They will be interviewing
market vendors and recording the conversations and the background
sounds of this community market.
Later, these audio recordings may be heard on WEAA, a non-profit
National Public Radio Station licensed and owned by
Morgan State University.

As luck would have it, the students arrived in time to record their
first audio interview with Sarah & Chris from
Pie It Forward!
